High Density Data Centers
Relevant Experience:

University of California, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Terascale Simulation Facility
Construction is nearly completed on a new 268,000 sf facility at the the lab.  The supercomputer space is to be 48,000 sf at 320 watts/sf, with 7000 tons of refrigeration.  A-P was selected for our innovative next generation 2-story MEP infrastructure concepts.  The project also included office space, a simulation theatre, meeting and presentation spaces.

Sun Microsystems, Santa Clara, CA
Ackerman-Practicon developed a unique design concept for a possible future 10,000 sf data center with 300 watts/sf, four 2000 KW emergency generators, ten 750 KW UPS systems, and 2100 tons of refrigeration.

Sun Microsystems, Menlo Park, CA
This extensive remodel of several engineering labs in existing buildings included solutions to address heat densities greater than 200 watts/sf .

A Silicon Valley Semiconductor Company, CA
Recently completed several designs for fast-track, phased construction including a 3.2MW high-density data center.  A-P developed interim and long term solutions for 320+ watts/sf conditions (operational in February 2004).

Lawrence Berkeley National Lab NERSC, CA
Design of infrastructure upgrade for new next-generation supercomputing system:
3.7 MW load
480/277v input power
Water cooled racks
Ackerman-Practicon provided all MEP, architectural and structural design
